About Me

I am a PhD graduate from Columbia University. My dissertation project uses experiments with social media to shed light on the complex relationship between content creators, platform consumers, and the platforms themselves. In particular, I argue that engagement-based algorithms incentivize the creation of polarized, extreme, or misleading political content. This distortion of the content pool can impact user experience and outcomes, even without more direct forces like echo chambers or micro-targeting.

I currently work as a postdoctoral fellow at NYU's Center for Social Media and Politics, where I conduct research evaluating the political implications of TikTok and Douyin, and exploring generative AI’s impact on online search.

I am also a research fellow at Civic Health Project. I am co-leading multiple browser extension experiments, studying the effects of prosocial ranking algorithms on user attitudes, mental health, and online behavior.

My email address can be found on my CV.
